'Palestinians' are not an ethnicity, nor a race, nor a historical national identity. The only thing that unites those who currently identify as 'Palestinians' as opposed to Israeli is NOT that they are people who descend from individuals living in the Land of Israel in the early 20th century. There are many Muslims who descend from those same people who do NOT oppose Israel, and most Israelis also descend from people who lived in the Land of Israel before the restoration of the Governance of Israel in 1948. So what unites those who currently identify as 'Palestinian' in opposition to Israel? It's that they descend from people who lived in the Land of Israel in the first half of the 20th century who ALSO seek the destruction of Israel. Their genocidal desire to destroy Israel and genocide Jews from the Land of Israel, or ethnically cleanse Jews from the Land of Israel (at best), is what uniquely defines 'Palestinian' identity. Nothing else. It's not only unbelievably dishonest for so-called 'Palestinians' to accuse Israel of ethnic cleansing and genocide; but it is also grotesquely hypocritical, considering that the genocide of Jews and the ethnic cleansing of Jews is the DEFINING principle of popular Arab 'Palestinian' identity.
Many people who have ancestors who lived in the Land of Israel before the restoration of the Governance of Israel in 1948 DO NOT seek the destruction of Israel. This is why it is inaccurate to claim that 'Palestinian' simply refers to anyone who had ancestors who lived in the Land of Israel before 1948. If this were the defining principal of current popular 'Palestinian' identity, then the State of Israel itself should be recognized as a 'Palestinian' State -- and it can be! ...but it is not 'Palestinian' in the current popular usage of the term; and that is why it's not popularly called 'Palestinian'.
Current popular usage of 'Palestinian' refers to mostly Islamic Arabs who live in the Land of Israel but who disassociate with Israel. This is in contrast to Arabs, even Muslim Arabs, who live in the Land of Israel but who do NOT disassociate with Israel. And those who disassociate with Israel do so because Israel is a mostly Jewish country. The reason they hate Israel and seek the destruction of Israel is PRECISELY because Israel is a mostly Jewish country. Their hatred of Israel has nothing to do with any particular action or inaction of Israel. Their hatred of Israel has everything to do with their hateful bigotry toward Jews. Arabs and Muslims who are not blinded by anti-Jewish bigotry do not seek the destruction of Israel.
