The “Opening Round” was originally promoted as taking advantage of the NRL going to Las Vegas, but to me, all it has done has compromised further an already compromised draw. Teams with a game under their belt have a massive advantage over teams playing their first game next week. It’s a disaster that I hope never happens again, and we leave the season opener to Carlton and Richmond. The AFL is too woke already, but I suspect under Andrew Dillon & Laura Kane, it just might get a whole lot worse.
