Thanks @shovel40, @paddington bear, @Fiji1 and morning crew.

    Half-time wrap:

The share market pushed towards record levels as all-time highs for gold and copper and gains in other commodities lit a fire under mining stocks.

The ASX 200 rallied 51 points or 0.66% to 7866 by mid-session. The surge brought the index within 40 points of last month's intraday peak.

Miners led the push. Copper broke fresh ground in London this morning, joining US prices at record levels. Gold was also on the charge, rising another 0.8% from Friday's closing high. Notable beneficiaries here included Bellevue Gold +6.38%, Gold Road Resources +6.19%, Newmont +3.4% and South32 +2.13%.

US stocks finished mostly higher on Friday, supported by a positive corporate earnings season, falling inflation and anticipation for interest rate cuts before year-end. The Dow firmed 0.34% to close above 40,000 for the first time.

Personal trading: Scraped a few coins from M4M. Wanted MYX, GLN and SYA a little lower for safety. Didn't get.
