Yeah, I think Deus may be right: a face-saving exercise (albeit, at the expense of shareholders as the SP has all the aerodynamic qualities of a penguin).
Maybe they are actually in a black-out period (no need for public disclosure of that) as the ink is drying on an amended deal with Sonangol, which would include development financing for the wider field (otherwise how else would they pay for it: it would take a very silly CEO to let the SP slide into the crapper if his thoughts were along the lines of a CR to fund the field development AND the 3Ds). Just maybe.
