The NATO Procurement Agency NSPA (NATO Support and Procurement Agency) has concluded a framework agreement for Defence systems against micro drones (C-sUAS) for the first time in the history of the Defence Alliance. This was announced by the NSPA on the 19th. April in a press release.
According to the communication, the term of the contract for one detector and jammer solutions is three years.
The contractually agreed systems are the drone detector Wingman from MyDefence and the portable electromagnetic effector Dronegun Mk4 from Droneshield.
According to the NSPA, the framework agreement allows flexible calls by the alliance partners to optionally lease or buy the system and to call up integrated logistical support for ongoing operations. The Wingman detector of the Danish company MyDefence is intended for tracking unmanned aircraft (UAS). The extremely compact system is hardly larger than an assault rifle magazine and has an integrated power supply. The latest version of the system weighs 1.1 kg and allows operation for up to 14 hours. The Wingman detector allows the fully automated detection and warning of the user at a distance of up to 2,000 m. The output is either acoustic, optical or haptic, by vibration. The IP67 certified and therefore extremely robust and at the same time compact,
as well as light Drone-gun Mk4 from Droneshield can also be carried as a man's equipment and operated with one hand. The bandwidth of the effector ranges from the interruption of the GPS and control signals to the disruption of the video transmission of the drone to the ground stations. This allows a wide range of effects on a wide variety of UAS.The NSPA communication explicitly addresses the advantages of the leasing solution included in the framework agreement. This allows the countries of the North Atlantic alliance to test the systems at low risk before they decide on nationwide procurement. At the same time, according to the statement, the combination of detection and effector of the two contracted products enables the complete Defence of micro drones in the area.
