It is rare for a new director to offer themselves for election at the AGM.
Retiring directors are normally replaced during the year by a board appointed replacement in my experience. If she retires after the board meeting they would have someone lined up to fill the position could be someone from the company that provides secretarial services who has experience serving on boards or someone else from Shannon's firm or maybe someone known to Blair and/or Shannon.
