I take the same view but $10k GOLD (let alone $20k) = end game / very troubling for the US....and its troubling at every major price milestone along the way to $10k.
If anyone likes reading, I highly recommend the book The Mandibles (which i finished recently) based around a middle class US family waiting for an inheritance that all goes to crap when the US defaults on its debt. Many layers to the book including an alt world reserve currency from the East (called the Bancor - BRICS anyone???), default on US bonds, social security collapse and a depression that lasts from the late 2020s till the mid 2040s.
I swear its a playbook for what is coming to the US.....the author did her homework that's for sure.
I wont spoil the ending but lets just say GOLD plays its role.
There's even a mention about Australia in the 2050s/2060s....which was shocking.
Great read...but does take a few chapters to really get going.
