    by taking a total return swap from a broker. It has been used in the past 5years in Australia. Under this agreement the broker is agreeing to provide you with the returns on a particular stock for a particular $ invested. Broker acquires necessary stock to fund their delivery of the return to you. At the end of the total return swap the physical stock held by broker transfers to you at the then current market price. Then you suddenly appear as a substantial holder. But in the end there is real buying going on and price would go up. But it’s a way of hiding the rising substantial ownership of an acquiring party.
