g'day willi... the dynamic context for this conflict goes back decades. I think we all know this and how it came to be. the imprisonment in a ghetto of Gaza, the enforced impoverishment. the restrictions on foods, water, energy, health services and medications have been a massive part of why Hamas has authority in Gaza despite Hamas only having around 25% support pre- the incursion. (this figure reported on BBC just after Oct 7).
neither side are innocent in this destructive situation. only the non-combatants (around 90% of Gazans) are innocent. yet its the non-combatants that are suffering the most.
this is not an Aus political stoush though willi. note how silent Dud and his party have been.... except for the unrestricted support for Israel. and this only because they don't care for Muslims but want to maintain Jewish support. aka opportunistic rhetoric.
the argument on "hiding behind human shields" does have merit and I agree they should not have been using hospitals, schools etc to place their offices. yet where in their tiny plot of land with a massive overcrowded population could anyone hide without being underneath civilians?
