Honestly, and you can thank me later, Bitcoin is only going to last about 6 months to a year IMO. Given their high transaction costs and times and the addition of all the infighting the only thing keeping it afloat is a name and the promise of good ROI.
What it is doing is bringing people to the crypto space, educating them on digital currency and slowly converting the world to this form of transaction. Once that purpose is achieved the real digital currencies will take over from BTC and become the high value asset.
Then once its mainstream, we'll see a collapse ... and guess who will come to the rescue? Yes, your friendly government will introduce their own digital fiat with all the assurances that a government can offer to back it up.
