Hi Pints, Listened to the video. The evidence for a Brics currency being imminent is that the Russians said so. Credibility a bit on the short side.
Now , I am a fan of the US dollar losing its pre-eminent position , but I think the Brics move is a furphy. Their economies and politics are just too different. India has a hissy fit with China , all falls apart. Hopefully a multipolar system involving the USD , Remnimbi, Rupee and Euro which will have a better chance of stability than any Brics currency.
For the Brics currency to work , all of the main players need to be stable . Russia, S, Africa , Brazil ? Maybe China could go it alone to give us a bipolar world , but that would involve the party allowing a reduction in their economic control that I don't see happening.
