China and Australia are two completely different situations.

Australia has had a great standard of living for more than half a century. lt also has a very mature energy system that is close to the end of it's operating life and is due for replacement . lt also has a largely flat electricity growth profile which means we can transition from fossil to renewables relatively easily.

China is still raising the living standards of some of it's population and it's doing it in a quarter of the time that we did.

So it's energy demand is still growing . Rapidly. lt needs all the energy it can get now.

Would you rather we say to the Chinese that they should stop raising their living standards while we continue to enjoy ours ?

At the same time do you want to stop buying just about all your consumables from China ? After all, most of the things that you buy are made there. So their emissions are our emissions caused by our demand in many cases.

Further to that, China is the biggest global investor in clean energy by a considerable margin . They are definitely doing their bit.

Australia isn't reducing emissions on their own. That would pointless . Not sure why you think that's the case .

Really sorry l had to explain that for you.
