The US is dependent on other countries using the USD as the primary reserve currency. Its what allows the US to print unlimited amount of money (thus far) without causing runaway inflation.
The attempt by the Chinese and other BRICS members to setup an alternative financial and currency trading system, would ruin the US economy. This year, the US need to refinance $7 Trillions - as well as borrow a Trillion New dollars every 3 to 4 months.
BRICS members are expected to meet in Russia, this year to formulize a new financial and currency trading system (refer to the Duran video I posted above).
This is real issue.
In any case, if there is an alternative financial system and countries around the world embrace it, then the US would be broke - as they can't pay back $34 Trillions, and their Gov can't function 3 to 4 months without borrowing at least $1 Trillion new dollars.
