Resurrecting this old thread as I have a lot of time for Kunstler. Might not agree with all of his political takes, but on more general societal takes he was ahead of his time - he called out a lot of trends that came to a head with covid / war in Ukraine / China v US etc, in terms of the need for localisation rather than reliance on fragile global just in time supply chains, the need to recognise physical resource constraints etc. We need greater self-sufficiency at both a national and local level.
