Do you honestly think ALB would've made multiple offers for LTR if they didn't already do some serious due diligence? LTR is a public company, there was very little ALB didn't already know about the business before they got a closer look at the books, and that applies to all shareholders who cared to look.

As to why TG recommend "X" price. Who knows, who cares? Real investors do not invest in a business based another person's opinion. They do their own research and invest based on that.
