Groundhog Day.
Interesting that there is basically nothing new to say about DEG,it remains in the same trading range as it has for almost 3 years.It went up a bit (like many gold stocks)related to rise in the POG(in US dollar terms)related to weakening of the US dollar secondary to a rapid fall in Us interest rates.
Discussion is
1) potential takeover ,this has been going on for three years and is never going to happen due to DEG being overpriced secondary to peers.
2)further increase in gold reserves ,which will never be produced in anyone’s lifetime.
3) lithium exploration ,in a major correction in the Lithium market and at the most will only add a few million in value to DEG,s market cap of 2 Billion.
Basically the stock will remain on the Lalonde curve (ie a trading range )until it has reached profitable production and started paying the debt down(5 years away).So deg is profitable for traders with its 20-30% range in price but sucks as a long term investment totally dependent upon the POG.
There has been no news release on what is critical to DEG ,ie the permitting process,everything else is noise.
I did notice that Artemis gold (in BC) which has 10 million ounces ,ready to produce in 6 months (ie much further along the Lalonde curve),similar size plant to DEG ,fully funded and permitted (it took only 10 months to permit in socialist British Columbia).26 years worth of production and valued at 900 million (less than half of DEGs value with heavy insider buying and ownership .There is some speculation there it might be taken over (its a good buy )though I dont own it, valued at less than half of DEG,also Artemis has been smart in funding with hedging,royalties and only owes about 1/3 of what DEG will owe if it ever manages to get a mine up and running.
