Further to that , the land that the solar farm was on has considerable value .
As opposed to a giant hole in the ground that nobody can use and will take decades to clean up.
E.g. The Hazelwood mine in Victoria.
Wind farms have active agricultural operations within them . Now we are seeing the same thing with solar farms. Really productive sites that have value rather than being a liability and having no further use such as a old toxic coal mine.
The land that renewables are on has no use by date as opposed to the land that a mine is on. Short of a revolutionary technology being developed such as fusion , renewable sites are likely to be in use for the remainder of the century.
