I’d suggest it isn’t simply the justice system - that’s ambulance at the bottom of the cliff stuff.

We live in a permissive world where individual rights dominate over community, surrounded by confusing messages about what’s ok, with social boundaries and obligations unclear Parenting is not easy anyway but I think it’s become harder and once a child is at school peer and teacher influence makes it more challenging.

one look at hotcopper and a thread like this - if hotcopper in anyway represents a cross section of society (does it ?) - tells us how divided we are on so many subjects

in the last few days I’ve had conversations that ought to make one weep - babies in emergency or children’s wards that would not be there if it were not for gross parental dysfunction with complex social and economic challenges. Stories of control and abuse by men that make one’s hair curl.

I tossed up many times about whether to even bother posting here because the response is likely predictable but I think many men simply don’t realise how their own socialisation, behaviour and assumptions are abusive or controlling - and how that interacts with female socialisation and behaviour with disastrous consequences (for both maybe but the ones losing their lives are females and that tells us a lot about how abuse plays out).
