When a kid grows up in a household where dad abuses mum then the odds are the kid will treat his wife the same way unless he deliberately decides to not follow suit due to identifying it to be gutless and weak which it is. So much dusfunction in families and individuals is all part of the cycle handed to them by parents. If parents are racist the odds are the kids will be too. If dad is an abuser of mum the odds are the sons will be as well, or the daughter will be accepting on it.
