You don't need to build it near population center's, construct it in regional areas. Areas away from the coast, areas away from risk of flooding, areas geotechnically stable. Plus, there is an entire desert for the waste to go. If there is any country suitable for safe and effective nuclear plants, it is Australia! A lot less risk than a country like Japan! Yet despite the risks they seem to be clever enough to be constructing scores more nuclear reactors, why are we not that smart? Ever been to Japan? They are decades ahead of us in the technology space and way more advanced. We can learn a lot from our neighbours, but our politicians are paid off and bought. They need to keep their mates and their investments in the traditional renewables space active and strong. Nuclear will start to undermine that. It is the only reason our country does not go down the nuclear path. That is the sad reality.
