The battery issue has to be acknowledged, they will deteriorate and need replacing. But when you do replace it, the EV motor might still be pretty sprightly, maybe even as good as new, with a battery which IS new.

Added to that, batteries will improve... maybe incrementally, or maybe there will be a generational change and they'll rapidly double in efficiency and/or economy and/or longevity. Even with the crappier batteries of the past, there are lots of use cases were EVs are already an excellent choice.

There's no denying electric motors are more efficient than petrol motors.
Learnt that in first year TAFE over 30 years ago.
The motor will likely outlast all other parts of an EV. And I suppose can technically be repurposed quite easily.
