Of course not and why would they? They still want the free money... and to get that they need someone to develop and mine the resource, n process it, manage the offtakes, ship it, and finally collect the proceeds.
They weren't going to shut it down forever. They weren't going to jeopardise the mine (and the free money that comes from it) unless they new there was someone there to immediately pick it up.
