    I agree with much of what you say.

    Nuclear powered subs are an essential part of our defence due to their range and detection advantages in my opinion. I do not know enough about the French version to be able to comment, but having both the USA and UK in the mix widens our options.

    A real worry for us is our local fuel supply - I havent seen a recent update, but last I heard we had less than a couple of weeks supply , and only 2 refineries. This makes us incredibly vulnerable. We can have all the aircraft, ships, drones and tanks etc we need - but without fuel we are stuffed.

    Our naval infrastructure is obviously sadly lacking in the north - it simply does not make sense to base submarines south of the Tropic of Capricorn imo
