The Voice will be a committee made up of everyday Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from across the country, with a diverse range of backgrounds, ages, and ideas. It is proposed that: Members would be chosen from each of the states, territories and the Torres Strait Islands. The Voice would have specific remote representatives as well as representation for the mainland Torres Strait Islander population. The Voice will have balanced gender representation at the national level.

A Yes vote will add recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the principle of a Voice into our Constitution. This is how our Constitution works - it sets out principles and establishes the detail through legislation. There will then be a consultation process with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, the Parliament, and the broader public to design the Voice.

The Voice was designed over decades, and agreed on in 2017 by more than 250 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders, nominated by their communities.
