https://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/interactive/2022/fentanyl-crisis-mexico-cartel/maybe these days, american/mexican businesmen import the precursor ingredients (mostly from china) .. and make the fentanyl in mexico .. the accountants probably worked out that it was a more efficient way to make the product - resulting in cost savings = bigger profits .

apparently the americans have an insatiable demand for fentanyl .. lucky for them that kind businessmen in china, mexico and america have combined to help out
