    Nothing comes without inconvenience, luck and risk - I agree, Nip. But the one thing I suggest to the young investors I work with, is to regard one's unencumbered PPR as a safe anchorage, given the inevitability of a Black Swan event - together with a 5%/10% allocation of physical, precious metals. I look on those two investment vehicles as a form of self-funded insurance, which in turn lowers one's aggregate risk profile of total failure while trading stocks.
    That said, if one believes they have the expertise to go down the stock road alone without above mentioned insurance, that's fine. In the end it just depends on one's appetite for risk. For me, well I like a safe anchorage to sit out the storms, so I might fight another day in the jungle that is the stock market.
