I am not saying get rid of all developers, just that they obviously can't meet supply alone. Many probably would not break dirt unless there was a million in it for them. I am saying Gov has a responsibility here to meet any slack, you can't expect the market to do that, not their motivation.
But I am with you, much easier to tackle the immediate issues via demand as opposed to supply. Whilst looking at systemic issues in taxation, I don't believe you can fix the imbalance between what people make and what a house costs via supply/demand alone.
