ok, so the number of cranes working within a city, has been likened to an indicator of real property demand in the area. That said, often, the peak crane number occurs at a point in time, when peak property demand has already passed. This occurs because the lead time taken to secure sufficient pre sold apartments, and the time lag in financing, regulatory approvals, and design is slower than the demand response to changes in int rates etc. This phenomenon should not be confused with the number of cranes on an industrial construction site. They are not equivalent, given the driving forces are not equivalent.
