thanks for posting this account. It is most likely an unwelcome piece of history for some who would prefer their alternative myths

while I agree that being stuck in the past and deeply attached to a policy that seeks obliteration of Jews and Israel itself has brought untold misery understanding the past is critical

in my view if the mess of Israel and Palestine is ever to be unravelled without more heartache one must understand the history and how it has led to precisely this point

one must understand that both sides have made intentional decisions.

but where they deviate is that Israel made a decision to build a nation - to create a democracy that would become a thriving robust state. The Palestinian leaders made a decision to keep fighting, to build hatred, to sacrifice the needs of their people for a war focused on obliterating another group of people. They made a decision to funnel the money they received into an ongoing fight not into building an area worthy of being called a state.

when existence has focused on destruction not construction, tearing apart not building up, hate and anger not peace and prosperity the population is ill equipped to build a future.

whatever Israel has done or not done there is no point in the west and those calling for the blood of Israel and the birth of Palestine ignoring this past. Ignoring it will mean watching a ragged, unravelled, incoherent and bloody future unfold and being unable to make sense of it
