News: Europe Distillates-Diesel margins drop to lowest since July 2023

LONDON, March 28 (Reuters) - Northwest European diesel barge dropped to $23.1 a barrel on Thursday, its lowest since July 2023, as imports into the region were set to rise this month.

• Around 83,000 metric tons of diesel barges traded in the Platts window, up sharply from 42,000 tons on Wednesday.
• More than a fifth of global oil refining capacity is at risk of closure, energy consultancy Wood Mackenzie found in an analysis published on Thursday, as gasoline margins weaken and the pressure to reduce carbon emissions mounts.
• Russia's Kuibyshev mid-sized oil refinery near the city of Samara on the Volga river has halted all production following damage from a Ukrainian drone attack last week, two industry sources told Reuters on Thursday.
• U.S. distillate stockpiles USOILD=ECI , which include diesel and heating oil, fell by 1.2 million barrels last week to 117.3 million barrels, versus expectations in a Reuters poll for a 0.5-million-barrel rise, Energy Information Administration data showed.
• Diesel and gasoil imports into Europe are set to reach 870,000 barrels per day (bpd) this month, Kpler data showed, up from 810,000 bpd in February.
