    But what I don't get from the article is that the land bridge from Africa to the area around Turkey has for a long time, as long as I can remember, been recognised as the route out of Africa. From there diversions were possible into central Europe and Asia. This isn't news.

    And another thing that isn't news is that intermingling
    between homo sapiens and Neanderthal and I think one or two other branches occurred in both Asia and Europe. Not necessarily successful breeding but contact at least.
