We bought Woodside into our model portfolio in January. In last week's Trading Diary I noted Woodside was the only stock to come up in my ASX 300 market scan. I don't underestimate that at all. It's a tough scan by the criteria I set for this one, especially given market conditions last week.
Yes, WPL has risen sharply. Sentiment is changing and the important thing is that high volumes of shares are trading hands from non-believers to believers of the Woodside story. Their growth profile is terrific, provided they can continue discovering gas (Martin-1).
Plus, the new $9bn of aussie currency has to go somewhere. Barclays aren't about to shore up their balance sheet with dollars from down-under.
