I was recently shocked to learn how long it is taking for temporary partner visa holders to be granted a permanent via residence......up to 20 months before they get an answer. These people are often working, educated and pay taxes. Many completed 2 years on temporary visas and wait another six months to 2years to become permanent and pay lots in fees and migration agent charges while refugees and detainees walk free even if they have criminal pasts. They fear deportation and can't create a home and life. What kind a government do we have who prefer to look after detainees and refugees whilst these people sit in limbo, contribute to our country and are then put to the bottom of the pile to have their applications processed. Time to reduce it to 3 months for a assessment and decision from my viewpoint. No wonder our migration system is in chaos.
