It isn't. It's not in their interest to defeat Russia. For many reasons. If you actually look beyond your bias at what's happening on both sides, it appears as if both sides are holding back. This is a "managed" conflict.
In the meantime, both sides are claiming that the other side is posing an existential threat

Unfortunately Ukraine is a a tool. A battering ram against Russia. Nato doesn't care if Ukraine get's destroyed in the process. They're promising that they will accept that whatever's left of Ukraine will be accepted into the EU. But it's a lie. It's the proverbial carrot, that the EU has been dangling in front of Ukraine for a decade at least.

you are sidestepping the fact that russia has invaded a neighbour to steal her land

that is unacceptable to Europe .....unacceptable to NATO .....if successful it would be aterrible precedent

look at Europes reaction .....before the war they were happy to trade with russia - now almost stopped
Sweden and Finland were treading a neutral stance
and countries were spending little on defence ......now they are contributing a lot for Ukraine ....simply because they feel for Ukraine but mainly they don't want to be russias NEXT victim

this isn't about "beating russia ' per se ........ it's about restoring rule of law and Ukraines borders .

until you understand that you will understand nothing with your 2 dimensional approach pitting russia against the west and barracking

I'll tell you another truth ......putin has got control of russia ......putin is the heart of the problem not russia
