The purpose of a ceasefire /negotiations is to find an acceptable compromise
and that wont be known until the end of negations....not up front .

At present what the Ukraine wants is the complete withdrawal
of Russian troops out of all pre 2013 Ukrainian territory and
even blind Freddy can see that that wont happen...at least not soon
and, more probable than not ,Russia will conquest more Ukrainian territory
as time passes which will likely put the Ukraine in a weaker position to negotiate.

That said, IMO, the Ukrainian leadership is not in a position to negotiate; that'll
be the US' call under the guise of NATO.

The claim was not negotiations took place, the claim was that a peace deal had been agreed.

So n, the confusion is not on my part. Trying talking to the user who was wrong about their claim and let me know what they say.

Ukraine is in complete withdrawal? Why don't you pull out your favourite BBC map from 2022 and let's compare the line of contact there in 2022 and now 2 years later in 2024 and see how much your claim of "complete withdrawal" really is?

Massive colossal Russian losses in men and vehicles for tiny tiny amounts of land while Ukraine has been starved of ammunition and are t their weakest? If you think that is Russia winning, ten your "IMO" proclamations are not so valuable.
