    OK, I thought your question on something evolving from a slime pit was rhetorical question designed to mock based on what my faith tells me of the tone and substance of your posts on evolution.

    I'll have a go at answering.
    First the slime pit must contain existing life and be a life supporting environment.
    Evolution does not cover the start of life.
    New species evolve when genetic changes result in attributes that give the individuals breeding advantage over those that don't possess these advantages.
    To be statistically significant only a small percentage need to contain these advantages. Most genetic changes are bad for these individual and die out and these unfavourable changes also die out.
    Over time these changes result in new species. The time can be quite short to a very long time as measured in human life spans.
    Most species that have ever lived have died out so the death of species is far more common than new species.
