It's hard to imagine what value the shorts are getting these days, given that the SP has been trading in a relatively tight range whilst bumping along the bottom. Basically this has been happening since the beginning of October 2023, so for more than 7 months. The shorts have been sitting around 7-8 % over this period. Every day, the shorters will be paying their fee for having the stock on loan. The loans fees must start to mount up over such an extended period.
