Answer is not so commonly known which I believe in part goes a long way to explain some of the bias and fear that some asset managers and index funds are able to generate. To be clear though my strength is in the study of predictive outcomes. Hope you do not mind however if I share my recent STX observations and then @slick - if you can, please correct, kick and slap around as needed. In trying to understand some of the recent trading volatility of STX, I found close read of the 16/4 substantial holders notice helpful. When broken down by relevant purpose type I interpreted the 66:34 spread of interests as indicative of how short positioning and leveraging could be taking place at least from a micro level. As for hedging and cross-matching at a wider market macro level though I will leave that for others better qualified. Hope this helps.
