lack of awareness if change is required
an inability to know where one has come from and where one is locked into going
all the disadvantages that a lack of insight brings (does that need explaining?)"
My old English teacher would say to me "ok, you've defined some issues here, but what are the consequences".
Australia has been one of the safest, cohesive and enduring countries in the world for decades. I doubt many people could provide a riveting account of their "way of life" even back then, but ask most people of their pride in living in Australia and it would be unquestioning. No doubt things have changed, and Australia has slipped. The less cohesive a society becomes through multiculturalism, the harder it becomes to identify a common meaning to a way of life. We are now just a "tolerant" society where once we were more cohesive.
That's something we should reverse, but those yelling racist and bigot at Australians (who just want their old country back) seem to hold the power these days.
