It is NOT the Father doing the testifying DRRR, it is John passing on the message from God, predominantly about the God and Father and Jesus is only mentioned here and there.

Testimony of God is greater than that of men = Jesus was the 2nd Adam MAN, hence he spoke the words of the Only True God and Father, that he independently of himself defines in John 17:3.

17:3 This now is the eternal life, that they should know You (Father) the Only True God and whom you have sent, Jesus Christ = The Son of this only true God, as the writer of John clearly says, this is why he wrote his Book, to show that he was the Son of God, the 2nd Adam MAN and not that he was God, or God man, or God in the flesh etc.

Eternal life now in this verse 17:3 shows, "this "Now" is eternal life".
The "now" shows you a change from the OT times, where the Father, Yehowah alone was the saviour, but he was always going to do this through a future one, born from Mary, Hence eternal life now is through the both of them, as Jesus clearly defines in 17:3, through God and through the MAN Jesus.
Jesus in 17:3 makes NO reference to needing to know a created holy spirit being, as well as him and the father, for eternal life and neither do any other scripture show this creation.
He doesn't mention it, Because the Holy Spirit is the Only True God and Father, the Father of Jesus, as Luke clearly shows.
5:11 - And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.

2 Tim 1:9 - He (the only true God and Father) has saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works, but by His own purpose and by the grace He granted us in Christ Jesus before time eternal. = (in his plans, for a future one to be).

Who is deemed as the truth in the above verse -> John 17:17 - Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.
John 16:13,14 - Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
We know it was the FATHER that glorified Jesus, hence HE is the Spirit of Truth, the Holy Spirit, who would be in us, well,.......some of as Jesus clearly says -> Only Few Find = Truth.
John 4:23,24 - But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth
Prov 3:5 - Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

White = In John 17:3 Jesus unquestionably, independently of himself, defines the Father as the Only True God when he was here.
