John 20:31 - but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

Rev 19:13 - And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

He has that name for, or one of the reasons, as he is the God and Fathers key representative for the word of God.

It's not in vain, for those that accept these basics, or a snippet of them.

In his name, in the above context, you reject why the Book of John was written, with your Thomas delusion and not accepting Jesus's words on that matter in John 14:10.
