In the 60's and 70's there was panic in the scientific community over the 'very real prospect' that we were headed for another ice age.

Shortly after that, it was panic over shortage of oil.

Then it was the ozone layer.

Ten to fifteen years later they were banging on about 'global boiling' and 'catastrophic' levels of global warming.
