You lost because you viewed the fundamentals of revenue/profit/unit sold alone, and sold out during a downturn.

If you view all the fundamentals of the company and not just revenue/profit/unit sold, you would have realised nothing within the company changed and that what was really happening was the playing field (by way of inflation, interest rates rising, and consumer spending on bike hire - b2b being vmts main income at the time) changed, reducing vmts sales significantly.

For the rest of us, who viewed everything and considered all facets, we see the oppurtunity.

The oppurtunity still exists. But not for long.
