The various countries of the world have various standards of living and offer different lifestyle benefits. Technologies continue to be developed and transform lives of the people. I have been to NZ and its a beautiful country and its a great place to visit as a tourist but its politics are too woke for me. Its not the governments job to tell citizens how to live, they just need to provide basic services like defence, health care, transport and telecommunications infrastructure.
Just like digital cameras killed film cameras, music streaming killed CD sales, fossil fuel oil killed whaling industry, fossil fuel cars killed the horse and cart as primary transport one day if the technology is good enough it will kill the inferior technology without any government intervention.
Regardless of any potential for increasing demand, a copper defecit is looming so owning a copper mine resource is becoming increasingly valuable.
