The truely religious person would be the first to make a detailed study of evolution, because truth is the foundation of religious belief without fear or favour.
If one takes a look at the fossil records with an open mind it is impossible to then suggest that it reveals Special Creation. Special Creation would have imprinted itself in the earth so profoundly that nobody would doubt its truth for a moment.
The fossil record also shows how pointless it is for a true believer to argue that creatures did not change from relatively simple to ever more complex creatures over vast periods of time. Every year that goes by more of these so-called missing links are found and humans do have enough intelligence to look at the evidence and call it as it is.
It is not faith, belief, religious duty to reject that Creation, if in any way Creation is some kind of reality, has been rolled out by some kind of state of evolution. This is not anti-God, anti-religion, there simply is no other possible way to read the fossil record. Otherwise we must accept that God went mad during Special Creation and stuffed millions of animals that could never live together in one place out of perverse motives.
