The likes of Woodside and Exxon with established infrastructure and dwindling reserves can delay the decommissioning expenses (circa $200 - $300m using COE as reference).
it's a no brainer to spend $40m now to delay a cost of $300m ~15 years.
and make more $$$ along the way.
and it being endorsed by the government based on that recent gas strategy announcement helps derisk it.
