Scott, Mum is still going strong. Having her medical on Thursday to keep licence to drive. She needs it living alone and 30 km from town. Her belief has always been to avoid as many medications as you can, keep moving, use your brain and have a positive attitude. It seems to have worked so far as she approaches her 88th birthday. I am forever grateful that she did not take the thalidomide medication prescribed for severe morning sickness while carrying me. which reminds me of Dr McBride who linked this medication to birth defects. A hero who then doctored his research to find another drug to continue his success. His research assistants blew the whistle on his actions.

Actually, McBride had a great advantage because he was the doctor handing out the thalidomide tablets to his patients. The story isn't quite as wonderful, is it? But the press never reports stuff that spoils a good story, does it?
