On the ABC's Insiders program this morning David Speers asked numerous questions of Senator Lidia Thorpe about her position on the ' Voice to Parliament ' referendum.

    Thorpe declared that:
    a. She will NOT vote against the referendum.
    b. She regards a TREATY as more important, more effective and more urgent than the proposed 'Voice'.
    c. If the Albanese Government better addresses recommendations from the RC into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody she MAY vote in favour of the 'Voice'.
    d. She's concerned that Parliament gets to decide the structure and operation of the 'Voice' - apparently she fears a repeat of what the Coalition did to ATSIC and even commented that Parliament might just one person to be 'The Voice'.
    e. Thorpe also indicated concerns that Parliament would not be bound to accept advice from 'The Voice' and could simply ignore it.

In a thinly veiled swipe at the Federal Coalition and at the media, Thorpe indicated that she equates those promoting the "NO!" Voice for Australia's First Nations Peoples with white supremacy and racism.
