but this is because education funding has always been tightly controlled - until recent decades when pollies wanted to prop up private schools.
its a disturbed and twisted sense of fairness that demands govt funds for any private business. if we didn't have funding for private education, public school could be adequately funded. the same applies to public health - Howard robbed public hospitals to create the private health insurance rip off scheme.
note: private hospitals did alright pre-Howard's scheme. the only ones to benefit from this are the insurance companies.
