    I don't think the Genesis verse is very clear at all wotsup. There are multiple translations of the word "soul" and your interpretation goes contrary to two main passages:

    1. Matthew 10:28 and
    2. "Then shall the dust (body) return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God Who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7).

    I cannot give you more than that to say that the body is made of matter, and this is separate from the soul/spirit of man which is not made of matter. To me, Genesis is not very clear and over time this has been clarified in Ecclesiastes and later still in Matthew and then in the Quran and elaborated even further in the Baha'i Revelation.

    You're interpretation of the soul being part of the body and therefore a material reality contradicts every single religious thinker in history.
